The Lethbridge Hurricanes kick off a two-game American road trip tonight as they visit the Spokane Chiefs at 8:00pm Alberta time at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena.
The Hurricanes are coming off a 6-3 loss on Wednesday night at the ENMAX Centre to the hands of the Kelowna Rockets. The ‘Canes led the game 3-2 half way through the third period, but four unanswered goals saw the Rockets stun the ‘Canes for the victory. The loss dropped the Hurricanes record of 3-2-0-0 on the year and 3-1-0-0 on the season.
Tonight will be the only meeting of the regular season between the Hurricanes and Chiefs. Lethbridge won the lone contest last year by a 4-0 score at the ENMAX Centre. Brayden Burke scored his first, and only, WHL hat-trick in that game.
The Chiefs have played a league-low two games, both against the Tri-City Americans, thus far in the season and sit with a 1-1-0-0 record. Former Hurricanes netminder, Jayden Sittler, has started both games for Spokane.
Lethbridge Point of View
Lindgren Rolling: Hurricanes overage centre Ryley Lindgren is on a tear to start the year. The 20-year-old has nine points (4g-5a) in the first five games and is riding a four game point scoring streak entering play tonight.
First of Two: Tonight will be the first of a two-game road trip as they make the first of two trips to the States this year. Tonight the ‘Canes take on the Chiefs while the will visit the Tri-City Americans tomorrow. The Hurricanes will return to the US in just over a month when they visit Seattle, Everett and Portland.
Spokane Point of View
Friends Now Foes: The Chiefs starting goaltender is a familiar face as Jayden Sittler is the go-to guy in Spokane. The Hurricanes dealt the overage netminder to Spokane for a pair of picks at the Bantam Draft. You can bet ‘Sitts’ will be on his A-game tonight.
Light Sked: The Chiefs so far have had a light schedule. Spokane has played a league-low two games through the first two weeks of the season. The Chiefs are 1-1-0-0 in those two games splitting a home-and-home with the Tri-City Americans.
