The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club would like to congratulate defenseman Andrew Nielsen on signing an entry level contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Nielsen, 19, was selected by the Maple Leafs in the third round (65th overall) in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft in June. In his second season with the Hurricanes, Nielsen has collected 24 points (7g-17a) in 23 games matching his 59-game output from a season ago.
The Red Deer, Alberta, product is current second in the entire WHL in scoring by defenseman only behind Victoria’s Joe Hicketts.
Nielsen went undrafted in the WHL Bantam Draft before being listed and signed by the Hurricanes.
