The Break Down

The Lethbridge Hurricanes will look to salvage some points as they conclude a three-in-three weekend this afternoon against the Regina Pats at the Brandt Centre at 3:00pm mountain time.

The Hurricane have lost the first two games on this short three-game road trip having dropped a 4-2 decision in Moose Jaw on Friday before a 4-1 defeat last night in Brandon. The ‘Canes have lost five straight road contests and will look to snap that today.

The Pats are coming off a big 8-5 victory on Friday night over the Red Deer Rebels at the Brandt Centre. Regina had Saturday night off and will be fresh and ready to go this afternoon.

The Hurricanes beat the Pats in the lone meeting of the season so far on October 14th when the ‘Canes picked up a 6-4 win at the ENMAX Centre – Tyler Wong and Adam Brooks both had hat-tricks in that game for their respective teams.

What To Watch

Lethbridge Point of View

Road Woes: After starting the season 5-1-0-0 on the road, the Hurricanes have had some struggles away from home in recent weeks. After dropping the final three of a six game road trip two weeks ago, the ‘Canes have lost both on their current three-game trip and have dropped five consecutive road games.

Special Teams: Entering play tonight, the Hurricanes in their last 11 game have posted a penalty killer percentage of 86% (6/43). The Hurricanes have allowed just two power play goals against in their last four games. Their power play in the same stretch has gone 12/61 converting at 19.7%.

Regina Point of View

Ready and Waiting: The Pats will be well rested today when they take on the Hurricanes. Regina hasn’t played since Friday night when they dismantled the Red Deer Rebels by an 8-5 score. The Pats had a rare Saturday night off last night.

Captain Back: Pats Captain Colby Williams returned to the Pats line up on Friday night in that 8-5 win over Red Deer. Williams, the overage defenseman, missed the first quarter of the season due to injury. The Washington Capitals draft pick had a goal and one assist and was a plus-3 in his return on Friday night.
