Hurricanes Ink Tyler Strath

2014-2015-Website-News-Article-Photo-Strath-SignedThe Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club have signed prospect Tyler Strath to a Western Hockey League’s Standard Player Agreement.

Strath, who will turn 15 on May 25th, was selected in the third round, 59th overall in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft by the Hurricanes. The 6’2”, 161-pound rearguard collected 23 points (4g-19a) in 31 games while adding 32 penalty minutes this past season with the Rocky Mountain Raiders Bantam AAA.

Hurricanes General Manager Peter Anholt says it’s yet another domino to fall, “I think it’s another building block for our organization. My goal was certainly to get our top three picks signed this year and at this point we’re two of three, so I think that’s continuing to build from the back.”

Anholt said he was thrilled to select Strath in the third round, “I was really pleased. As every pick went by that he wasn’t picked, I got a little bit more antsy and ansty all the time thinking we were going to get a chance at him; this guy’s a legit player.”

“Strath is a big, strong defensive defenseman. He takes care of his own end, makes good first passes and he skates really well for a big man. It’s a real important building block for our organization,” Anholt added.

Strath joins Calen Addison as the second of the ten players chosen in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft to sign a Standard Player Agreement.
