The Lethbridge Hurricanes President Doug Paisley announced today that General Manager Brad Robson has been relieved of his duties effective immediately and that Assistant GM Peter Anholt will overtake GM role as well as head coaching duties.
This comes a day after the club dismissed head coach Drake Berehowsky. In 101 games with Berehowsky as coach and Robson as GM, the Hurricanes posted a record of 18-74-5-4 and finished dead last in the WHL standings last year, and sit there again through 29 games this year.
Anholt over 14 years coaching with the Prince Albert Raiders, Seattle Thunderbirds, Red Deer Rebels and Kelowna Rockets has coached in 973 games collecting a record of 450-460-27-0 with 38 ties. He currently sits 10th all time in WHL victories and is one of just 13 coaches to be apart of the 400-win plateau. He will also soon become just the seventh coach in WHL history to coach in 1000 games.
Anholt, along with Bryan Maxwell, give the Hurricanes a plethora of coaching experience as the two combine for 1,821 games coached and 847 victories.
The Hurricanes take on the Kelowna Rockets tonight.
