Three of the Lethbridge Hurricanes top prospects from this past year’s Western Hockey League Bantam Draft will be on display this weekend in Calgary at the World Sport School Challenge.
The tournament will run Thursday through until Sunday and will be hosted by the Edge Varsity Hockey Academy.
The Hurricanes prospects will include three of their top five picks from this years exceptional 1999 class of drafted players. Each player will play at minimum two games, with the possibility of more if their respective teams makes the elimination/playoff round.
The ‘Canes prospects attending include:
F – Jordan Bellerive – who was selected 2nd overall
D – Nick Watson – who was selected 28th overall in the 2nd round
G – Shane Farkas – who was selected 67th overall in the 4th round
Bellerive and Farkas will be participating for the Okanagan Hockey Academy White, while Watson will suit up for Delta Prep.
The three players are expected to be cornerstones for the Hurricanes moving forward and should gain some valuable experience participating in this tournament that has seen many great players take part including current Hurricane Kade Jensen, former Hurricanes forward Brady Ramsay, Swift Current Bronco’s leading scorer Coda Gordon as well as many NHL players like Thomas Hickey, Jordan Nolan, and Dave Bolland.
